How do you avoid fear and pain? Stay comfortable. Stay safe. Avoid disappointment. Don’t take risks. Don’t love. Don’t trust. Don’t create. Don’t strive to become better. Don’t care…don’t live.
Are you really ever free?
Oh, wait…that means you are making decisions based on the fear of fear, so really you are still feeling fear, feeling pain, but you’ve also created a prison of your own design, preventing you from growing, experiencing, creating and being free to explore the possibilities.
We are programmed to avoid pain, and fear is not a pleasant experience for most. However, if we come to understand trying to avoid fear and pain is just another form of fear and pain, we can start to break free of our jail cell.
The truth of the matter is that you must learn to move through fear and pain, because that’s how you grow and become better, and overcome new challenges. You face it head on. And there is no other way than to simply pluck up your courage and move through it.
By trying to avoid fear, pain, failure, and disappointment you are simply living in a different kind of fear, a kind of pain that leaves you with regrets and ‘what ifs’, that is never offset by the joy of breaking through to a new level. So if you must live with fear and pain anyway, why not see how far you can go, and in the process reap the benefits of a full and exciting life?
The worst pain is the regret of ‘what if’. No more regrets. Take a deep breath, and go for it.
